PDA & demand avoidance support

When everyday requests feel too much, it can be hard to know what to try next. I offer practical, neuroaffirming parent support around PDA and demand avoidance, looking at pressure, capacity, communication and your child’s need for autonomy. No diagnosis is needed.

My daughter Luna is autistic with a demand-avoidant profile. I bring that lived parental understanding alongside my professional SEN experience. Every child is different, so we explore what fits yours. This is practical, non-clinical support; I do not diagnose PDA or provide clinical assessment.

When everything feels like a demand

Getting dressed, leaving the house or a change of plan may bring refusal, negotiation or distress. Ability does not always equal capacity.

We explore what happens before, during and after difficult moments, including sensory load, expectations and communication. Together we can consider pressure reduction, shared choices, predictability and co-regulation that fit your child.

A helpful starting point

A 45-minute Parent Support Call (£30) gives us time to explore the whole picture. You receive practical suggestions and a written overview with suggested next steps.

There is no pressure to buy resources afterwards. Use Contact to tell me what’s happening, or WhatsApp Harriet on 07494 078690.
